How do we price the items you bring in?
Great question!
When you bring something in, I have to determine how long the item is going to take to alter and how difficult an alteration is going to be. For a very long time I based these prices off of standardized garments that took a similar time to complete similar alterations. Unfortunately these days, all clothes come from all different places and are made in all sorts of ways which make it hard to determine price. Not always dictated by how much your item cost by the way. I have been undervaluing the work that goes into almost every item that has come in for years. I have also compared my prices to other places that do similar work, and we are priced lower than most of these places. I do not feel our work reflects this. Operating expenses have also gone up so much in the past few years, and I, along with all of you have to deal with living with these higher prices. So I will be raising prices across the board. I know this is not something people want to hear, and I wish I didn’t have to, but it’s necessary to keep this business open. I hope you continue to come in here and experience the work that we provide and also enjoy the conversation and relationships that we’ve shared over the years. It’s honestly why I keep it going.
